Early Life

Saw Shine Tha

Saw Shine Tha was born on September 12, 1961 in May Myo (now Pyin Oo Lwin) city, Mandalay Division, Myanmar. His father is Pastor U E Dwe Tha and his mother is Daw Pe’ Sein.

            His father U E Dwe Tha was converted from the Baptist church denomination. His mother also converted from Baptist Church background. When his father became an evangelist he was appointed to evangelize in the Nga-pu-taw district, Ayeyarwady Mission. Then, his father met with his mother and before they got married his mother got baptized. He has only two siblings, his elder sister Moon Star Dwe and he, himself. Saw Shine Tha was baptized on December 13, 1975 at Yangon Central Church.

Education and Marriage

            He attended the school in Private school at Tatkone, Myint Kyi Na from K.G to grade 1 in 1965-1967 and in 1967-69 his father transferred to Pathein City, Ayeyarwady Mission and he attended the school in B.E.M.S (4), Pathein from Grade 2 and Grade 3. And in 1969-1971 his father moved to Myaung Mya city and he continued his education in B.E.M.S (3), Myaung Mya from grade 4. Then, in 1971-72 his father transferred to Yangon City and he continued his grade 5 education in B.E.M.S (3) Dagon. Again, his father moved to Pya Pone City on 1972 and they stayed there for two years and he attended the school in Pya Pone from Grade 6 to 7. On 1974 his father moved back to Yangon and he attended Grade 8 in B.E.M.S (3) Dagon, Yangon. On 1975 he attended Grade 9 to 10 at Ayeyarwady Adventist Seminary. He graduated Ministerial Training Course (MTC) on 1980 in Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary.

On 1980-82, he went to Spicer Memorial College, India and finished up to College 2nd year but because of some reasons he came back to Myanmar on 1982. He got married to Naw Sohila, on March 27, 1984. They were blessed with one daughter, Naw Sonia born in March 18, 1987. On May 1991 he and  his family went back to Spicer Memorial College, India and graduated on March 1994 with Bachelor of Liberal Arts (BLA).

Career/Ministry

            In 1985, he entered the ministry as church pastor in  Ahsugyi village, Pantanaw Township, Ayeyarwady Misison. He was working as a church pastor and his wife was working as a volunteer village teacher in government elementary school. In 1986, they moved to Myaung Mya city and he was working as a city evangelist for 2 years. In 1988, they moved to Yone Thalin church, Hinthada Township, Ayeyarwady Mission as a church pastor for one year. In 1989 they moved back to Myaung Mya city again and he was working as a hostel dean and teacher at Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary.

      On May 1991 their family went to Spicer College, Pune 7, India and he graduated on 1994 March. Their family came back to Myanmar on May 1994. On July 1994, he started working as an AWR Technician and on January 1996 he was working as an AWR Supervisor. On April 2002 during Centennial Celebration of Myanmar SDA Church, he had received Ordination at Than-daung city. He was elected as a departmental director for Youth Ministries Department and 1000MM Coordinator at Myanmar Union Mission from 2002 January to 2010 December. From January 2011 to December 2015 he was working as a Ministerial Secretary in Myanmar Union Mission.

Current Life

            From January 2016 to December 2021, He is working as a departmental director for Communication and PARL departments in Myanmar Union Mission.
